Using CrazyEgg To Understand Your Visitors

I first used www.crazyegg.com a few years ago now and quickly saw how useful it can be to visually see what your visitors are up to whilst on your Web Pages.

Crazyegg.com have a free account that gives you enough data to determine whether your design is getting visitors to do what you want or not.

When a visitor is on your website there is always a desired action you want them to take and although you can easily check your Google Analytics account to see all the numbers, Crazyegg just gives you a nice quick graphical representation of what they are doing.

heat2To the right is an example of crazyegg.com being used on one of our own Websites that enabled us to understand how there were navigation around the sites and where the hostspots where.

The blue parts are the colder clicked areas while the yellow areas are the most frequently clicked hot areas.

Based on what you see in your heat map, you can determine whether to move a few things around and perhaps make some parts of your site more prominent.

Why not run your website through the CrazyEgg system and see what your visitors are up to and if they are acting in the way you want them too!
